Huaneng Held the Public Open Day Event at Lower Sesan 2 Hydropower Station

On June 5th, China Huaneng held an open day event with the theme of "Connecting the Lancang-Mekong River and Brightening Life with Electricity" at the Lower Sesan 2 Hydropower Station in Cambodia. More than 50 representatives of Huaneng scholarship recipients, including elementary school students from resettlement villages and university students from the Royal Academy of Cambodia, participated in the event.

This event is led by two young Cambodian internet celebrities with millions of fans, Wen Shengyuan and Sea Neang Gaming, who led students to visit the power station and the interior of the dam, learned the principles of hydropower, and live streamed on the official account of China Huaneng in Cambodia. Visiting students take photos while visiting the site, and online netizens like and interact through the post. After the event, Sea Neang Gaming expressed her gratitude to China Huaneng for bringing clean energy to the Cambodian people and effectively improving their quality of life. The visiting students expressed that they are honored to visit the Cambodia's largest clean energy project and appreciate the charm of "the longest dam in Asia's hydropower industry". They are grateful for Huaneng's assistance in realizing their dreams.

As the largest hydroelectric project in Cambodia, the Lower Sesan 2 Hydropower Station has a total installed capacity of 400,000 kilowatts, accounting for about 20% of Cambodia's total installed capacity when put into operation. The dam is 6,500 meters long and is known as the "longest hydroelectric dam in Asia.". As of May 31 this year, the hydropower station has provided over 10.7 billion kilowatt hours of green and clean electricity to the Cambodian power grid, greatly alleviating Cambodia's power shortage and dependence on imports, and promoting Cambodia's economic and social development.

China Huaneng adheres to the concept of "building a power station, driving the local economy, protecting the environment, benefiting the local people, and building harmony together". It has successfully promoted the overall relocation of 840 households and 3,690 impoverished people in the surrounding areas. After completion, in new resettlement villages, schools, hospitals, roads, temples, police stations, and other public facilities are completed, with drainage systems, power grids, wells and other infrastructure, greatly improving the living standards of local people.

It is the sixth consecutive year since 2019 that China Huaneng has held the public open day event in the country where the project is located.
